A challenge for you!

I offer you a challenge.
A little exercise.

Not so long ago I wrote about money.
Let’s talk some more about money!

Money exercise

Tell someone how much you earn (someone who does not yet know).

While sharing notice:

  1. How do you feel in your body?
  2. What emotions arise in you?
  3. What thoughts do you have?
  4. Do you have a wish to explain more? What do you want to explain?

Share important parts of your experience of telling to the other person, too.
And invite them to tell you about their earnings if they are willing to.
(note! You can do this exercise even if they do not want to share)

Share with them what your relationship with money is.

Explore what is easy for you and what you struggle with in terms of money.

For example with these questions:

  1. What does money mean to you?

What values, thoughts and ideas do you associate with money?

  1. What did you learn from your parents about money?

How did they spend and save?
Did you get a consistent message and example about money use?
What did they tell you about money?
What emotions did you witness they had towards money?

  1. How do you spend money – are you too tight or overspend?

How do you do that in your life?
What do you buy that you do not really need?
Or what you do not buy that would make your life better or easier?
Do you save on healthy food or allow yourself to spend more on food?

  1. What is your ideal relationship with money?

What steps will you take to get there?
Who could support you on your journey?
Notice what emotions, thoughts, pictures and bodily sensation arise in you when you are sharing.

Thank yourself for taking time to ponder these questions.
And do something nice!

**

An alternative option is to do the exercise alone

And in case there is nobody to share with or if sharing with someone is too much for you, write and reflect on these questions. ✍️

Start with landing to the moment and noticing your body and sensations.
Keep your eyes closed or eyelids dimmed.

Move your attention to the sounds around you. Notice sounds close to you and further away, maybe outside of the building too.
Give this grounding a few minutes.

Start to reflect from this place of presence. Take a pen and paper and write without much thinking, analyzing or pausing.
Notice what emotions, thoughts, pictures and bodily sensation arise in you while pondering these questions.

Read what you wrote and underline points that feel important to you.
When you are done take a moment to notice your breath and just be.

In case you want to go deeper in the roots your money beliefs and transform them into beliefs which work for you better consider joining us 10-13 April in Transform Your Money Beliefs retreat in Syvilla!

Let me know how this exercise was for you!
Did you have strong reactions to any of the questions?
Did something surprise you?
Who impacted your money beliefs and your way of spending the most?

What do you want to leave behind from what you saw in your childhood family and surroundings in terms of money?

I wish you a great weekend!
(Notice how you spend money this weekend and how you feel about it!)

Love,
Tuulia (and Pete) ❤️
